Farrukh Khan founded Farrukh Systems Ltd in May 1988, at the age
of 23, to provide for the needs of the growing electronic prepress
market. Initially the company provided complete PC based DTP systems,
but in 1989, after a request from an Irish customer, began development
of Imposition Publisher, which has now sold over 6000 copies in
over 50 countries.
Imposition Publisher was launched at Drupa 1990. It quickly moved
from DOS to the Mac and was translated into 5 languages. It soon
became clear that one single imposition solution could not meet
all the needs of the different print markets, so a strategy of building
a wide range of solutions to meet the different market needs was
adopted.
The company launched its Client Server, Media Saver, Digital and
Page Pairer versions of Imposition Publisher. These met the needs
of multi-user environments, film saving, digital printing and the
newspaper markets respectively. This diversity led to OEM deals
with, amongst others, Purup-Eskofot and EFI.
The Client Server version led to the expansion of Imposition Publisher
onto SGI, Window, Linux and Mac OS X Server operating systems. This
also resulted in the processing end of the software being split
out from the user interface, allowing easy automation and integration
with third party products and workflows.
The company's headquartes are in the UK and there is a reseller
channel spread across 40 countries. Imposition Publisher runs in
English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. The company provides
24-hour telephone support as well as email support.
