Farrukh Launch Imposition Publisher Version 4
London, England. –July 1st 1999– Farrukh Systems today announce the
release of a major new upgrade to the Imposition Publisher range of
electronic Imposition software products.
Imposition Publisher Version 4 has been in development for over a
year and has a whole host of improvements and new features. In particular
version 4 has full PDF workflow support and a new ‘Flatwork’ feature
for precisely planning pages of different sizes on a single piece
of film or plate.
The PDF workflow capability allows Imposition Publisher users to mix
and match PDF and PostScript files on the same imposition. Therefore
users wishing to embrace a PDF workflow can do so gradually without
having to commit 100% to PDF on day one. This feature is particularly
timely given the imminent release of Adobe’s INDesign which supports
PDF as a native output format. The PDF workflow support also allows
the final imposition to be output in PDF or PostScript format.
Flatwork is a brand new feature to Imposition Publisher that takes
the place of a normal imposition and allows different size PostScript
(and PDF) pages to be placed on the same ‘Flat’ for output. FlatWork
includes automatic placement and layout features, ‘step and repeat’
functions and automatic ‘backing up’ of pages. It also utilises the
same customisable Print Marks and Printing features as with standard
impositions. This feature is seen as being ideal for printing of Stationery,
Greeting Cards and Post Cards with Sheet-fed presses where the key
to profitability is being able to make full use of the available space
on the printed sheet.
There are a number of other significant improvements to the product
including a more intuitive user interface, ‘drag and drop’ page re-ordering
and support for ‘coming and going’ impositions for web presses.
Imposition Publisher version 4 for the Mac OS is available now. Windows
NT and UNIX Client Server versions are due for release at the end
of July with the Windows stand-alone version due later this summer.
