PRESS RELEASE
1 March 2003
Farrukh Systems Launch Imposition
Publisher Version 4.5 on Windows
London, England. 1 March 2003
Farrukh Systems announced today the release of the Windows
4.5 version of Imposition Publisher, their imposition software
product. This is a major upgrade to the Windows product, bringing
it into line with the functionality of the Macintosh version of
Imposition Publisher.
Version 4.5 for Windows has a whole
host of improvements and new features.
Flatwork is a new feature to the
Windows version that allows different size pages to be placed on
the same sheet for output. Flatwork includes automatic placement
and layout features, step and repeat functions and
automatic backing up of pages. It also uses the same customisable
print marks and printing features as the standard impositions. Flatwork
is ideal for printing of stationery, greeting cards and postcards
with sheet-fed presses, where the key to profitability is being
able to make full use of the available space on the printed sheet.
Print Marks have been given a thorough
overhaul, with a significant number of enhancements over the previous
version. There is a great degree of customisability, even with standard
print marks. Custom print mark requirements can easily be met by
using EPS files for custom marks. The positioning options have been
enhanced, with an option to position marks from the edge of the
sheet, useful for registration marks and other marks. The order
that print marks print is controlled by their order in the print
marks list, allowing you control to overlap print marks, if space
is tight.
There are a number of other improvements
to the product, including support for Coming and Going impositions
for web presses, Step and Repeat print jobs, easy access
to recently saved files, Drag and Drop File List and a more
intuitive user interface.
Multi-User Client Server Option
Imposition Publisher is also available as
a standalone program for Macintosh computers. There is also a multi-user
Client Server option, with the server program running on Windows
(NT, 2000 or XP Server) or UNIX (Solaris, SGI, Mac OS X or Linux).
Clients can be a mixture of Macintosh or Windows computers. All
important settings (print marks, device settings, etc.) are stored
on the server, so that everyone in a multi-user environment is using
the same settings.
Core Imposition Publisher Features
Imposition Publisher version 4.5 is built
on a firm and proven foundation and includes all the best, familiar
behaviour of previous versions of Imposition Publisher. It is an
ideal choice if you are printing more than one page at a time, whether
you are outputting to plate, to film or to a digital output device.
- Intuitive User Interface
- Straightforward Impositions. Impositions
are independent of the pages being imposed, the print marks and
the output settings. This means that you only need to maintain
a small set of impositions and can often reuse impositions for
different output devices.
- Automatic page reordering. It is only
necessary to define the page ordering on one side of an imposition.
The back is numbered automatically. This imposition can be used
whatever the number of pages in the job, whether 4 or 400 pages.
The page order on the extra plates is calculated automatically
at print time, based on the number of pages in the job, even for
saddle stitched and Coming and Going print jobs.
- Minimum user input required. The intelligent
drivers ensure that the maximum information is extracted from
the input PostScript or PDF files. No need to enter the finished
trim page size, as this is calculated from the position of the
crop marks in PostScript files or the TrimBox entry in PDF files.
- Easily updated. Drivers are regularly
updated to accommodate new Desktop Publishing software, operating
systems and printer driver changes. The most up to date drivers
are available from the Farrukh
Systems web site
