Seybold Seminars, San Francisco, CA. –August 31st 1999– Farrukh Systems are today announcing ‘direct support’ for Adobe InDesign with its Imposition Publisher range of software solutions.

Imposition Publisher Version 4 is being shown on the Adobe Developers stand at Seybold San Francisco with a whole host of improvements and new features. As well as incorporating a new PostScript driver specifically to support PostScript output from the new Adobe InDesign software, version 4 also has full PDF workflow support and a new ‘Flatwork’ feature for precisely planning pages of different sizes on a single piece of film or plate.

The PDF workflow capability allows Imposition Publisher users to mix and match PDF and PostScript files on the same imposition. Therefore users wishing to embrace a PDF workflow can do so gradually without having to commit 100% to PDF on day one. This feature is particularly timely given the recent release of Adobe’s InDesign which supports PDF as a native output format. With support for InDesign’s PostScript output as well Imposition Publisher version 4 offers users a unique choice of workflow format. The PDF workflow support also allows the final imposition to be output in PDF or PostScript format.

Flatwork is a new feature to Imposition Publisher that takes the place of a normal imposition and allows different size PostScript (and PDF) pages to be placed on the same ‘Flat’ for output. Flatwork includes automatic placement and layout features, ‘step and repeat’ functions and automatic ‘backing up’ of pages. It also utilises the same customisable Print Marks and Printing features as with standard impositions. This feature is seen as being ideal for printing of Stationery, Greeting Cards and Post Cards with Sheet-fed presses where the key to profitability is being able to make full use of the available space on the printed sheet.

Other significant improvements to the product include a more intuitive user interface, ‘drag and drop’ page re-ordering and support for ‘coming and going’ impositions for web presses.
