Imposition Publisher Mac OS X Compatibility - October
2004
Imposition Publisher Standalone
The Imposition Publisher standalone program is already Mac OS X
compatible. It runs fine in the Classic environment of Mac OS X.
There are some known issues, due to the absence of the desktop printing
subsystem and lack of support for ADB dongles in Mac OS X.
- PDF Files cannot be directly processed in versions of Imposition
Publisher before v4.6. (Imposition Publisher 4.6 and later has
a native PDF processing engine and is able to impose PDF files.)
- Imposed files can only be sent to the default printer (shown
in Chooser) or saved to file.
- Dongle not responding messages. Due to sharing of the USB bus
between Mac OS X and the Classic environment (aka Mac OS 9) you
may occasionally see this warning. Usually you can just click
OK and things will go back to normal.
A native OS
X version of Imposition Publisher is currently available.
Imposition Publisher Server (Mac OS X)
There is already a server version of Imposition Publisher which runs
natively on Mac OS X (10.2 or higher). Contact
us for more details or if you want to switch your server licence
from another platform.
Dongles
Our current USB dongle works fine in Classic environment of Mac OS
X.
Unfortunately, we do not support the ADB dongle in Mac OS X. Mac OS
X and ADB dongles are more problematic. There have been reports of
the Grifin iMate adapter being used successfully in Mac OS X, but
the success rate seems to be less than 50%.
Our recommendation is to swap to a USB dongle. Contact
us for details of how to swap your ADB dongle for an USB dongle.
