Whether you are outputting directly to paper,
plate or film Imposition Publisher is the total solution to electronic
imposition. Here we show you how to output a simple 4-up imposed job using
Imposition Publisher.
Step 1 - Create your PostScript/PDF file.
Imposition Publisher recognises PostScript files from over
100 different Desktop publishing & other layout applications.
And it recognises PDF files created from almost anywhere.
Create your document and print the required pages to a file, keeping your
normal print settings.
When printing to PostScript, select crop marks or registration, where
possible and include all fonts. Imposition Publisher uses the crop marks,
if present, to make your workflow smoother. |
Step 2 - Load Files and Select an Imposition Template
Drag the files into the Files pane. Imposition Publisher will automatically
detect the trim page size, page orientation, bleeds, embedded fonts and
colour separation information.
Imposition Publisher includes many standard BPIF and Stahl folding impositions,
as well as other simple imposition templates. In this example, we have
selected a 4-up saddle stitched imposition from the Custom folder. |
Step 3 - Choose Settings
Print marks and alignment settings are simple, but can easily be customised.
From the Marks pane you can turn marks on or off, edit individual marks
and even create custom print marks. You can save frequently used settings
as presets for future use.
In the Device pane you can save presets for each device you use. You just
need to enter the imageable height and width. To ensure precise positioning,
offsets can be applied in either direction. You can have different values
for the front and back if needed. |
Step 4 - Preview, Proof or Print
You can print directly to any available printer, or into a rip watched
folder.
The Preview feature allows you to view a PDF of your job (in Acrobat
or Mac OS X Preview). After viewing the preview, the actual imposed
file can be sent to your output device.
